Our Law Office will explain to you, at the first meeting, the method used to calculate fees and costs, in conformity to applicable legal and professional rules.
The fees cover the services and duties performed by the lawyer. This includes the study and management of the file, the drafting of correspondence, meetings, telephone interviews, drafting of pleadings (contracts, summons, conclusions, ...), attendance at hearings, expertise meetings, mediation, ...
The hourly rate will be defined at the first consultation. It will take into account the nature of the case, its complexity and the degree of urgency.
In some cases, a flat rate or a lump sum may be applied. It will also be determined at the first consultation.
The expenses of the office (opening of file, typing, photocopies, telephony, traveling expenses, etc.) and court costs (bailiff's fees, court fees, expert fees, etc.) are taken into account; they are borne by the client.
A retainer will be requested as soon as the file is opened. Interim statements of fees and expenses will be sent to you on a regular basis. If necessary, a new retainer may be required.
If, because of your precarious financial situation, you qualify for access to second-line legal aid ("pro deo"), the law Office may help you in entering this system. On this, see more on www.advocaat.be
